Round 1 B Grade BBDCC v Longley

Longley 1/136 (Iain Stewart 62 no, Luke Ford 58 no) def BBDCC 132 (Kelvin Cooper 44, Mark Jensen 34, Oliver Hippel 5/22)

Blackmans Bay won the toss and elected to bat. Jay Summers and debutant Mark Jensen opened up and took the score to 34 before Summers had his stumps uprooted by Damien Smith for 10.  Jensen then combined with stand-in captain Kelvin Cooper and the Sharks were well placed at 1/67, until the introduction of Oliver Hippel saw the wickets tumble. Jensen was out for 34 (3x4) and in no time the Sharks were 9/112 - with Kelvin Cooper out for a fine 44. A last wicket partnership of 20 saw the score reach 132. Hippel was the pick of the Bunyips attack finishing with 5/22 off 10 overs.

The reply for the Bunyips was swift and brutal. Sean Wicks snared Dean Chatwin early but the partnership of Iain Stewart and Luke Ford soon saw the ball flying to all parts of the ground. They put on 114 in less than 10 overs and none of the bowlers were spared.  Stewart finished 62 not out (10x4, 3x6) and Ford 58 not out (10x4, 2x6) to set up a comprehensive victory for the Bunyips
